I love to use centers for my language arts instruction. Based on my current schedule, I can really only fit them in once a week. Instead of giving the kids worksheets or having them complete a workbook page, I try to incorporate fun, learning activities into our centers.
I was browsing Pinterest (I know, I completely have a Pinterest addiction) and came across the cutest activity for my centers on Teachers Pay Teachers. It was called “Literary Jenga,” by The SuperHERO Teacher.
I fell in love with the activity and bought it right away. You can’t beat only paying $4 for such a fun activity! Plus, I really didn’t want to try and make something like this, anyway.
The activity requires a game of Jenga, a color printer, scissors, and a glue stick. Once printed, you cut out each slip of paper and glue it onto a Jenga block. When the students play Jenga in their center, they have to answer the question for the story we read in our Journeys curriculum each week.
This game can also be used with chapter books, which I love!
If you’re interested, The SuperHERO Teachers has created this activity for grades 3 – 12. Click here to head to her store!
I am so excited to use this game within my centers after Christmas break!
Aw, this was an extremely good post. Taking the time and
actual effort to generate a great article… but what can I
say… I hesitate a whole lot and never seem to get anything done.
