This summer, I’ve been helping my grandma reorganize the sewing room in her house. In her sewing room were two old, beat-up metal cabinets full of craft supplies.
Here’s the before:
We didn’t want to get rid of them due to their functionality and storage space, but we also didn’t love them. You know what I mean?
We decided to upcycle both of them! I picked up a jar of Rustoleum’s Chalk Paint, Chalked, in charcoal. You can find this paint at a local hardware store or Home Depot. I brushed on two coats in about an hour. The paint dries extremely quickly and is ready for a second coat after just FIVE minutes!
Next, we picked out an Americana fabric and some ModPodge, measured, cut, and placed the fabric on the drawer fronts using the ModPodge. We did five coats of ModPodge to ensure that the fabric would stay put.
Ready for the finished products?
It’s amazing what one can do with a paintbrush and imagination!
