For art, we channeled Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky’s abstract, color-rich murals. His works were greatly influenced by Picasso, Van Gogh, and Matisse.
Here was our inspiration:
For this project, I gave each of my students a white piece of card stock. With the paper vertically on their desks, they measured 2 3/4 inches across and drew lines all the way to the edges of their paper. Horizontally, they measured the same length and copied the process, creating 12 square boxes. They drew circles in each box, finding circular items around the classroom to trace.
After their circles were complete, they picked four different colors of markers and created their own patterns for their artwork.
Take a look at what they came up with! I might be biased, but I think theirs are better than the original. 🙂
